Vanier Hockey Program Outline & Expectations
Welcome to the G.P. Vanier Hockey Program. I’m looking
forward to another great year. I am thrilled to be working with your son or
daughter to help them reach their greatest potential both physically and
academically. My hope is to have as much fun as possible as we develop our
abilities both on and off the ice. Feel free to contact me at anytime with
concerns, comments, or just to chat about the greatest game on earth.
Following is a brief outline of our weekly schedule,

Expectations
Gear: Full gear is mandatory.
Hockey Academy jerseys will be provided and
must be worn for all ice sessions. A
dryland hockey stick is also required (a cheap one from Canadian Tire is
great). Gear can be stored upstairs at the sports centre after all ice
sessions. It should be picked up at the end of each school day. The door is
locked, but there are no guarantees that it will stay that way—especially at
night.
Preparedness:
Some days we will be outside or running to the Lewis Centre, regardless of the
weather—plan for rain! Please make sure your son/daughter also has the
following items: water bottle, running shoes, towel, extra clothing for hot or
inclement weather (sunscreen, socks, t-shirt, shoes, hat, gloves, etc.).
Behaviour: Treat everyone with respect. We are all
at a different level of development. Negative comments and bullying will not be tolerated. Behaviour is expected to be polite.
Be a good listener. Be helpful and
positive, always. Helping with equipment or keeping the dressing rooms clean is
an example of how your son/daughter can make a difference. Arena and school
staff appreciate positive behaviour. If behavior is an issue, it will be dealt
with. In extreme cases removal from the program is an option. Remember, we are
all fortunate to have such an exciting program at our school. Let’s have FUN!
